Yard work with Daddy

Dayton trying to push the lawn mower.

Dayton pulling the weeds from our garden.

Dayton examining the weeds he pulled.
Dayton taking instructions from Daddy.

Aaron and I were outside doing yard work the other day. Dayton didn't want to go with his sisters who were playing in the yard, he wanted to stay close to the yard work. I thought this was the sweetest thing since our girls have never wanted to do yard work. It was almost natural for Dayton to sit near his Dad and help pull the weeds.

My Little Picasso's

My Little Picasso's
Uploaded by beckeck

We went to the Children's Museum last Friday, for the first time. I guess each day they have a different workshop that the kids can participate in. The day we were there, the activity was watercolors. I really didn't want to do this activity because at home, we try to avoid the messy projects. But after thinking about it I said to myself, " Why not. Here you have someone to help you clean up." I had decided though, that I was not going to let Dayton paint. Ellie, Savannah, and Abagail put on their paint smocks and began their projects. It didn't take Dayton long to realize what fun he was missing out on. So Dayton ran over to the box of smocks, pulled one out, and attempted to put one on. After going through the trouble I could not tell him, "No". It was fun to watch him try and paint, until I became his canvas. Once this started happening, and he had put the paintbrush in his mouth for the fifth time, we decided it was time to clean up and go home.

Partners in Crime

While Elizabeth is at school, Dayton and Abagail hardly leave eachothers side. A couple days ago I put Abagail and Dayton down for nap. It was not long after, that I could hear them talking to each other through their bedroom doors. It was the cutest thing.

These days... if I can't find Abagail, all I have to do is look for Dayton. The other day Elizabeth and I were in the kitchen cleaning when we heard Dayton and Abagail's laughter from clear down the hall. I asked Elizabeth to go check on them...it turns out that they were bobbing for bath toys inside the toilet. (Sounds fun...Right!) They were having a great time until I broke up the party.

I can't wait to see what these Partners in crime do next.

Your going to miss this!

Here's a look at some pictures we've taken over the past year.

The last week and a half I have been pretty sick. Until last Friday, where I was horribly sick. I didn't even want to move or get out of bed.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel to bad when Aaron went to work, so he left and I had Savannah, Dayton, and Abagail home with me. For me, things progressively got worse. It was later that afternoon when I didn't want to get out of bed. By that time, Savannah had spilled red Gatorade all over the front room carpet, Abbie spilt cereal all over the floor, and Dayton had drooled chocolate cookies all over my bed comforter.
I was crying, very upset, and asking myself, "Why," when Aaron called and knew he needed to come home. It was through the next couple of hours that I questioned my behavior and why I was so upset at my kids. It wasn't their fault that I felt so horrible.
I also reflected on my younger years and how I wanted to grow up so fast. Did I want these years with my children to go as fast as I had wanted to grow up? That's when I realized that no matter how bad it is, no matter how many times the kids spill food on the floor I just mopped, how many times I have to spray spot remover on the carpet, or how many times I have to wash my comforter...I will miss this.

Skyler's Birthday Circus

Skyler's 10th Birthday

Aaron's nephew Skyler celebrated his 10th Birthday last Saturday. He had a Circus themed party with lots of fun and food. The kids were able to play in the bounce house, walk on a tight rope, throw bean bags and rings, and play at a coin toss. They enjoyed lots of treats like cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, soda, and hot dogs.
Aaron's sister and mom put a lot of thought into this party. The kids had a ticket that they had to redeem to play at the games or "purchase" food items. Aaron's mom dressed up like a clown and made balloon figures for the children.
We had a lot of fun at the Birthday Circus. Happy Birthday Skyler!
